But on this Tuesday, the local ran up the line in the day. Here, the train is heading back down the spur toward Broomfield. But it also seemed a shame to lose the bright orange of the GP60M. So I decided to compromise! A line of cars headed south on US-287 wait at a red traffic signal while the Longmont Switch slowly makes its way through the "intersection". Why? The unit number might sound familiar...this was one of the units on the northbound that derailed in June 2008 after hitting a tree stump in the tracks. The will return north on the main and then back into the siding and attach to their train. That will allow them to return to Longmont.
