It is a beefy looking unit, with a much larger long hood than an SD70ACe. This is no doubt to accommodate the equipment needed to meet Tier 4 emissions standards. This prime mover is actually a 4-stroke engine as EMD (Caterpillar) was unable to meet Tier 4 standards using a 2-stroke engine.
