Each blade is roughly 100 feet long. These blades were constructed at the Vestas plant in Fort Lupton, CO and are headed for a wind farm in Texas. The Front Range Sub runs right down the middle of Mason Street in Fort Collins. When trains aren't present, cars can change lanes across the tracks. This is to avoid blocking the grade crossing at County Road 73 in town. Once the westbound the train is meeting (the Z-train from Chicago) is about 10 miles away, the dispatcher will instruct the train to pull in to the clear. While most shots come from the south side of the rails, we are looking down on this eastbound from the north side of the rails just at the mouth of the east end of the canyon. You can see US-40 on the opposite side of the Colorado River. A few hundred feet more and the train will knock down the clear signal at the west switch of Sulphur.
