Even though there isn't any evidence of it in this picture, March is the snowiest month of the year in Colorado. Consequently, UP has been keeping this snow bus on hand, just it case it is needed.

If there is a snow storm in the the area that shuts down highways, this snow bus can be used to transport crews.

It is refreshing to see these old cabeese in service, no matter what it is, whether a "shoving platform", or snow bus. At least Uncle Pete decided to put decently clean potive power on the snow bus, not some ratty engines that haven't ever seen a wash rack...

You are correct, UP 1989 had been in this service. However, UP saw fit to release UP 1989 to the rest of the system! As of this posting it is in Fort Worth, TX.
