I had originally hoped to head to the high country a week earlier, when more of the trees still had their fall colors. Even though a lot of trees had lost their leaves at this point, I'm not complaining about this shot of an eastbound coal load (with an SD70ACe on the point). The train just popped out of the Moffat Tunnel and will now descend roughly 4,000 feet in the next 45 miles.

great weather in the state for shooting pictures esp. with fall colors in the mix the moffat tunnel area is a great spot to watch trains good for picnics too
