Amtrak has ordered a new fleet of ACS-64 electric locomotives from Siemens. The units will replace the aging AEM-7s and have already replaced the (relatively young) HHP-8s. Since these are manufactured in California, they travel from California to Chicago via the California Zephyr. From there, they will continue on to the Northeast to enter service.
