A fast-moving train and fresh snow are the perfect combination for a nice action shot! The West Local, with a quintet of covered hoppers, is headed west on the main at Leyden, moving at track speed. The power will run around the train at Rocky (rather than backing up the Rocky Spur). With so much fresh snow, the crew did not want a (relatively light) covered hopper plowing the way.
