The Limon Sub is something of an interesting operation for UP. Years ago, UP chose a handful of sidings (7, to be exact) to upgrade between Denver, CO and Sharon Springs, KS. These sidings were, in some cases, lengthed. All had signals added to each end that were dispatcher controlled. The other sidings that are along the line (7 as well, to be exact) UP all but abandoned. One such example of the essentially-abandoned sidings is here in Agate. As you can see, the track condition is not in great shape. The siding is only 4,837 feet long, too.
