The engineer for the westbound Zephyr stands next to AMTK 203 so he can give a "roll by" to the eastbound UP manifest they are meeting. During a roll by, the person (or people) conducting them will watch the passing train for anything that appears to be out of the ordinary. Equipment hanging off of a car, an open door on a hopper. Anything that might raise some concerns. In this instance, nothing unusual was spotted by Amtrak's engineer. AMTK 203 is painted in a special "Operation Lifesaver" scheme, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the program. Amtrak unveiled the paint scheme about a year ago, in January 2022.
