And, as a result, MRL units are now roaming BNSF's system, offering greater opportunities to get shots of units outside of Montana. A Heritage AC4400CW and an MRL SD70ACe are the power today. Interestingly, the SD70ACe (and possibly the AC4400CW) were put on the train in Denver. The train is slowing as it has an Approach (yellow) signal at the east end of Irondale. It will be meeting an eastbound coal empty there. As you can see here, there is a hill east of Denver on the Brush Sub that this westbound coal load has just climbed over. UP 6230 was delivered in May 1995 as SP 150. The train is also passing by the Suncor oil refineries. In the world of expensive Tier-4 compliant units from EMD and GE (Wabtec), most railroads are starting to focus money on rebuilds rather than new planes. After the rebuild, UP 5872 also got the latest UP paint scheme, moving the American flag from the long hood to the nose, and removing the wings from the front of the nose entirely.
