Back when intermodal ran over the Moffat, in the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific days, the track the passenger train is on here was used as an intermodal ramp. UP 4014 is putting on a fantastic show in the early morning as it heads west on the Moffat on the North Yard Siding. So yes...Big Boy has officially run on the Moffat Tunnel Sub! But it will only get as far as just west of C&S Junction so it can back down Bypass 2, across the Belt Line, to the Greeley Sub. The Big Boy was steaming really well here, and a bit of smoke was coming up, blocking out a bit of the sun, which in turn highlight the red in the exhaust. This is a very popular spot for shooting the steam train when it runs as, in the summer time, the three quarter lighting is about as perfect as it can get in the mornings. The lighting was beautiful and the smoke from UP 4014 was pumping out nicely as the train continued on its journey north back to Cheyenne.
