UP's eastbound MGJNY crosses the 72nd Avenue grade crossing in the middle of Arvada. This grade crossing will disappear in the next five years (give or take) as the City of Arvada is widening 72nd Avenue here from two lanes to four lanes. As part of that process, the road will be lowered underneath the tracks.

This BNSF oil train has three DPUs on the end, but not a single one is BNSF! There is an NS "catfish", a KCS SD70ACe, and a rather rare gray KCSM AC4400CW. The gray KCSM unit has been significantly tagged and is looking a bit grungy.

A loaded BNSF oil train crosses over the 72nd Avenue grade crossing just east of Leyden. This grade crossing will not be around too much longer as a grade separation between the tracks and 72nd Avenue will be coming in the next few years. The City of Arvada and Union Pacific are currently working out the details of the new bridge.

This is a scene that is going to change rather substantially over the course of the next two years or so. The City of Arvada will be widening 72nd Avenue to four lanes, while also creating a grade separation with the tracks. So this grade crossing, at which several cars are stopped for the eastbound oil train, will soon be disappearing and cars will pass underneath the tracks.
