The Grand Junction-based crew on this Provo-Lincoln manifest have their train rolling at track speed through the east switch of Rocky, kicking up some fresh powder!

Highball Rocky! The westbound Winter Park Express approaches a clear signal at the east end of Rocky after making its way through Barbara's Gulch and passes underneath the CO-93 overpass.

This Denver-Provo is about to knock down an approach (yellow) signal at the east end of Rocky. Maintenance is in the process of clearing up on Big Ten, so the train will have a clear signal at the west end of Rocky.

Yikes! This GP15-1 has definitely seen better days! The unit was delivered to Missouri Pacific in September 1979 and was moved to the UP roster in November 1990. Judging from this shot, this paint scheme is probably the only UP paint that has ever been applied. That's some mighty faded gray paint.

Having recently celebrated its 35th birthday, this GP15-1 (original MP 1683 when delivered in 1982) is headed for North Platte, NE. It is unclear if it will stored or sold...or possibly even reactivated.

This GP15-1 was built in July 1977 and was delivered to Missouri Pacific as MP 1598. It went to UP 1598 after UP acquired MP, and was then changed to UPY 598 in April 2004 as UP was rearranging the roster.

UP changed their paint scheme (for the first time in quite some time) after their acquired Chicago and Northwestern by adding a slight lightning bolt to the red stripe near the top of the unit. This C44-9W was originally CNW 8716, delivered in May 1994. After being taken over by UP, the unit was repainted on April 30, 2001...the new lightning bolt scheme applied.

Here is a bit of a classic unit! One of the first wide cabs that GE ever came out with could be found on the C41-8W. This unit was originally delivered to UP in September 1993 and, based on how its looking, this is probably the original paint job!

Remember the horsepower race at the end of the 1990s? Railroads wanted more horsepower and EMD produced its SD90MAC and GE produced its AC6000CW, each with 6000 HP. But neither were quite ready for primetime, so EMD made over 300 SD9043MACs and GE made its AC6044CWs. They had 4400 HP, but were designed to have the prime mover swapped out for the 6000 HP counterparts when ready. The only problem was they never really were ready! Here, an AC6044CW heads east at Rocky, clearly defined by its large radiator blister at the back end.

I am very grateful that I have had the chance to shoot Warbonnets. As class 1's repaint more and more of their "old" personalities, it is only a matter of time before all the Warbonnets are nothing but history. BNSF 777 brings up the tail end of BNSF's Denver-Provo under cloudy morning skies at East Rocky.

It is an absolutely beautiful Colorado morning, particularly considering it is the start of December! With temperatures around 55°F, this Provo-Denver manifest leaves Rocky on a clear signal. C44-9Ws used to rule BNSF manifest on the Moffat. However, they are already starting to become outdated as more and more "Evolution Series" units are showing up! Nice to catch a Dash-9 on the point on this morning.
