The final shot of the day for this journey to the western slope of the Moffat comes at a quarter after 4pm, here at the siding of Radium. This Provo-Denver has likely met its final westbound and should have a clear shot the rest of the way to Denver. The crew went on duty at 10:30am, giving them just over six hours to make the trip in to town.

I'm not mechanic, but I have a suspicion that the turbocharger on that third unit is either about to go out, or already has gone out, based on the impressive amount of exhaust it is spitting out as this eastbound manifest throttle up in the siding at Radium, ready to continue east toward Denver.

A closeup look at BNSF 9292, the leader on BNSF's eastbound Provo-Denver manifest, as a westbound UP oil empty streaks by on the main track.

For the first time ever, I finally made it down to Radium for a shot of a westbound oil empty meeting and eastbound BNSF Provo-Denver. I've never gone all the way to Radium before because it is a little bit out of the way from the main road that connects Kremmling to Bond. It is a 6-8 minute drive in and out of Radium, and typically I bypass it as I do not want to fall behind whatever train I might be chasing. However, with the light rapidly fading, it seemed like the perfect time for a few shots. Well worth it, too, as Radium is quite scenic.
