This eastbound manifest is at the west switch of Shoshone along the Colorado River. Prior to 1992, drivers in Glenwood Canyon passed this location on the two lane I-70. Once the expansion of I-70 to four lanes was completed (through the mountain behind the tracks, in this case), this area became a rest stop and access to the Glenwood Canyon trailhead. Because it is on the north side of the mountain, very little sunlight hits here, meaning the Colorado River is frozen over!
