UP 1989 joined a variety of rolling stock including a hopper, tank car, gondola, boxcar, and intermodal equipment at Denver Union Terminal. The equipment was here for the Wheels and Motion Transportation Fair, a job fair which took place between 8am and 3pm during the day.

Normally, I would never include a picture in the gallery with such an obvious and glaring eye sore obstructing the subject of the photo. However, considering it was the Rio Grande Heritage Unit (and considering it may never be at DUT again), I took the shot! UP 1989 makes a visit to Union Station in Denver for the Wheels and Motion Transportation Fair. UP 1989 was shut down and tied down with a handful of other cars including box cars, hoppers, and intermodal equipment on tracks three and four.

Three days earlier, this trains (without the SD70M), made its way west on the Moffat up the Craig Branch to Steamboat Springs (click here for pictures). After spending some time there at an Operation Lifesaver event, the train returned to Denver to prepare for a similar trip to Grand Junction later this week.

What were once warehouses used for industries are now upscale lofts in much of LoDo (Lower Downtown). Two of these lofts sit behind 9389 in this shot as 9389 sits on the passenger special on Track Three at Denver Union Station.

A five car BNSF business train (for Matt Rose, the President and CEO of BNSF) sits quietly at Denver Union Station on Track Three. The train would shortly depart for Alliance, Nebraska via the Brush Subdivision.

With its 67th season in the books, the Ski Train rests on track two at Denver Union Station. Note the wonderful painting of the Rio Grande SD45s hanging on the wall in the Kansas!

This Ski Train can finally rest its axles once again! 43 runs since the first run back in late December and the Ski Train has finished another winter season. In a few days, the train will be moved to Burnham for storage and any upgrades that might be planned.
