Between these two trains meeting at Evans Avenue, there are four units, each from a different railroad. Only one of which is "native" to Colorado. Of particular interest is the Canadian Nation ET44AC from north of the border and the Ferromex SD70ACe from south of the border! However, BNSF changed things up and it was called at 11am! I was up at Crescent when I got the news, and I immediately headed south so i could get some shots of the northern visitor. Boeing 737 fuselages are initially built in Wichita, KS, before being shipped by rail to Renton, WA for final assembly. A fresh crew is on the train, and they are waiting for a train ahead of them (also on Main 2) to move so they can continue north. It increased efficiency and safety. 40 years later, and many trains still traverse the trench every day! The tank train on Main 3 is actually an oil empty that, once it gets recrewed, will head west on the Moffat to be loaded in Wellington, UT. Of the five tracks, the two on the left are owned by RTD and are part of the RTD Light Rail transit system. The center track in Main 1 of the Joint Line and is owned by UP. This short track connects in with Main 1 on the Joint Line on the east side of Santa Fe Drive. The rest of the train is actually sitting on Main 1, waiting for the power to return. With the trains currently tied down on Main 3, this means BNSF's Fort Worth dispatcher only has Main 2 available for both northbound and southbound trains through the area. It would seem that there was no room in the yard at Denver when the train got to this point, so it was tied down.
