The line is about to see a couple trains daily, working to clean up Uranium Tailings near Moab. The project will move 12 million tons of tailings over the next 10-20 years! It is probably lucky that the tracks are above the grass here as the fire burning up toward the tracks more than down toward the rest of the field. Multiple fires started along the tracks between MP 10 and MP 16. One fire started at east Leyden and rapidly spread up the tracks (through dry grass) toward some houses! Nope! This coal train is 100% Union Pacific. BNSF is paying back UP some power-sharing hours. UP decided to keep all seven units together and here are five of the seven (the other two are bringing up the rear)! While it looks like the intermediate signal at Kipling is red (left side of the shot), it is actually flashing yellow (Advanced Approach). Above this train, you can see the tracks going through Clay. The train itself is now at Rocky, and there is considerably less snow.
