On this day, the Zephyr is running with only seven Superliners instead of eight, as demand is often down some in the winter months. The tracks pass right through the middle of the oil refinery in Commerce City. Amtrak here is running about 12 1/2 hours late. Between Osceola, IA and Creston, IA (a distance of 33 miles), the train lost five hours. Between Creston and Fort Morgan, CO, the train lost another six hours. Here, the train is on the approach to Sand Creek with a nice set of power on the point. An SD75I in Warbonnet on an SD70MAC in Green and Cream lead the train.
