Between Osceola, IA and Creston, IA (a distance of 33 miles), the train lost five hours. Between Creston and Fort Morgan, CO, the train lost another six hours. The tracks pass right through the middle of the oil refinery in Commerce City. Amtrak here is running about 12 1/2 hours late. Here, after 8:00pm, the head end of the westbound Zephyr is approaching the diamond at 23rd Street. In the distance, on the left side of the picture, note the eastbound Zephyr (running a few minutes late), preparing to back into Union Station. The train has a clear signal as it approaches the signal bridge at C&S Junction. The last bit of light is quickly fading in the western sky.
