Okay, if somebody can identify this little critter, please feel free to mention it in the comments. I'm guessing it is some kind of GE something-tonner, but this is outside my realm of expertise! It was sitting near the grain elevators at Utah Junction.

The Rio Grande Heritage Unit sits near the silos at Utah Junction. After arriving on the MPUNY the night before, the power (which included UP 1989) cut away from the train and moved up into the storage yard for the duration of the day.

After being forced to use the BNSF New North Main to get to Utah Junction, the California Zephyr crosses back over to UP Main 3. The track to the right leads to the BNSF Front Range Sub which eventually reaches Cheyenne.

With the switch thrown at Utah Junction to cross over from the BNSF New North Main to the UP Main, Amtrak crosses over the Belt Industrial Lead to continue west.

UP had coal trains on the Inbound, Outbound, and Main tracks at Fox Junction. This resulted in Amtrak taking the BNSF New North Main through Rennicks to get the Utah Junction! Something of a rare occurance. Here, Amtrak is approaching Utah Junction on the BNSF track.
