Not more than ten minutes after sunrise, this eastbound MPVNY wraps through the curves at Blue Mountain about twenty miles west of North Yard. The time is about 5:45am.

Every once in a while, Amtrak ends up running more than just a little bit behind schedule. The eastbound California Zephyr was just such an example on this particular day. Amtrak 6 wraps through the curve at the base of Coal Creek Canyon about twelve hours late! It's not too often you can get Amtrak 6 coming down the Front Range in morning light!

Early morning sunlight glistens off the side of the Superliners of Amtrak 6, running almost exactly twelve hour late. It is about ten minutes to 6:00am as the train approaches Clay. Note the Denver Skyline just about the hill on the right side of the picture.

A very rare opportunity presented itself on this particular day. Amtrak 6 was running twelve hours late, passing just west of Leyden shortly after 6:00am. It is very unusual to capture the eastbound Zephyr in the Denver area in morning light!
