At Haybro, the P-Burg Local is moving swiftly along at 40 MPH under the car of four GE AC's. Note the Haybro "yard" (which is only a single track) running along the opposite side of the train.

After waiting for some track and time to clear ahead of it, the P-Burg Local is again on the move and picking up some speed in between Haybro and Sidney. Sidney is the only siding between Phippsburg and Steamboat Springs.

This being my first visit to the Craig Branch west of Phippsburg, I was unaware how scenic the area is. There were lots of rolling hills covered in green making for some wonderful shots. Here, the P-Burg Local is about six miles east of Sidney.

Colorado is one of the few places I know of where you have the opportunity to throw snowballs in June! The P-Burg Local is about seven miles east (geographically south) of the east switch of the Steamboat Springs siding. A cold storm front makes its way into the Steamboat Valley in the distance, bringing temperature down to just above freezing!

With its switching work in Steamboat completed, The P-Burg Local will now continue on the remainder of its trip (another 38 miles) to Craig. The river on the left is the Yampa River which runs through Steamboat in the Yampa Valley. No wonder it was called the Yampa Valley Mail!

If you ever plan on taking a trip to Colorado, never expect the weather to match the season! Here, seven days into June, the temperature is 40 degrees and it is snowing just east of Parshall, about a mile west of Byers Canyon.

Moving opposite of the Colorado River, UP 5710 leads a coal load from the mines at Somerset east through Byers Canyon. This train will stop at the west switch of Granby while it waits for maintenance crews between Tabernash and Winter Park. Dispatch 82 will even tell the crew that they can go into town and grab a drink if they'd like one as it will be a little while!
