The train, chartered by Train Collectors Association, departed Union Station at 3pm and 45 minutes later, it was passing just west of Denver with the Denver skyline in the distance. The Ski Train is heading west at a quarter to four in the afternoon on a special chartered run. The train will return to Denver later the evening, arriving around 11pm. The Ski Train, making a special chartered run, hasn't headed west of Denver in the afternoon since a similar charter on June 19, 2003. The open vestibule on the Kansas is crowded with people all wanting to take in the beauty of the trip west on the Summer Ski Train. After a long heat wave, temperatures are in the 50's for these passengers, headed to Winter Park for a special catered dinner.
