UP 844 puts up a bit of smoke as it slows to a stop on the Inbound Main just north of York Street and UP's 36th Street Yard. The train will have to hold to wait for authority to use a bit of the Limon Subdivision to wye the train and back into Union Station.

UP 844 and train, the SCYDV-20, sit on the Inbound Main just north of York Street. As the train was waiting to use the wye on the Limon Subdivision, about two dozen local residents came out of their houses with cameras (or even just camera phones) to check out the commotion and get a few pictures.

Just outside of UP's 36th Street Yard, UP 844 and train use a bit of the Limon Subdivision to wye the train. This will allow the train to back through the yard and into Union Station.

UP 7710 is one of two ES44ACs that make up the "supporting cast" for UP 844's trip to Denver for the Democratic National Convention. This is a particularly patriotic unit, having been delivered to UP on July 4, 2007.

UP 7843 is one of two ES44ACs that make up the "supporting cast" for UP 844's trip to Denver for the Democratic National Convention. The GEVO is just six days shy of celebrating its five month birthday! By comparison, UP 844 is getting close to its 64th birthday. It was built in December 1944.

UP 844 and the train for the Democratic National Convention have almost completed their trip into Denver. The train is slowly backing toward track three at the station. Coors Field, home of the 2007 National League Champion Colorado Rockies, stands tall in the background.

Looks like this C44-9W has received a bit of body work! The unit was damaged in a derailment in early 2007. The body was fixed up easily enough, but it has yet to get a fresh paint job.

Earlier in the day, this train (the Pasco, WA to Saginaw, TX freight) made its way down the Front Range Sub from Cheyenne. Upon reaching Denver, the crew tied the train down at the south end of Rennicks Yard where it waits for a fresh crew to take it south on the Joint Line.
