This special is rolling on clear signals at Hazeltine with a very smoky second unit! This train came from Fort Riley, KS and the equipment will be moved to Yermo, CA.

UP's daily MNPNY (North Platte, NE to North Yard, CO) heads down the main track at Brighton. The train is on an approach signal because it will be meeting a military special here at Brighton.

A military special (on the left) is rolling north on the siding at Brighton while the MNPNY (on the right) is rolling south on the main. Turned out to be a well-timed meet! UP 5594 - on the special - was in Brighton less than two weeks earlier on an Operation Lifesaver Special train with UP 1989!

All too often, as a rail photography, I curse the code line along the tracks for getting in the way of shots. With the advent of newer technologies, code line is starting to disappear! So perhaps it is time to start incorporating it in more shots before it is completely gone.
