March is, in fact, the snowiest month in Colorado. Plenty of the white stuff remains from the blizzard two days earlier as the westbound Zephyr approaches the east switch of Leyden. This coal empty came from Xcel Energy's Cherokee Power Plant in Denver and is headed for the loadout at Energy on the Craig Branch. A very shiny (compared to the rest of the power) SD70ACe leads up this coal empty at Leyden. The train is headed for the Energy mine on the Craig Branch. I suppose that, considering it has been close to 17 years since the UP/SP merger, 11 units isn't that bad! The classic Grande signals still stand at east Leyden. Based on this picture, it is not hard to understand why replacing the signals is necessary. This signal is in fact displaying a red over yellow (Diverging Approach) indication as the approaching MNYRO is taking the siding.
