The owner of the land on the north side of the tracks at Leyden recently cut down a few trees that were obscuring the east switch of Leyden from 82nd Avenue. Whatever the motivation, I'm glad it was done as it allows for shots like this to be possible for the first time in over a decade!

It is a beautiful Spring morning as the on-time Zephyr rolls west past the east switch of Leyden. The grass is really starting to green up and leaves will be appearing on the trees soon.

The conductor from a Heritage 1 led BNSF manifest gives a wave to the westbound Zephyr at east Leyden. The conductor will give Amtrak a look over as it rolls by.

This eastbound BNSF manifest is approaching the grade crossing at Simms Street in Arvada after meeting Amtrak at Leyden. Not uncommon is the large number of tank cars that make up the train. A bit more uncommon, however, is the Heritage 1 C44-9W leading the train!
