It is Friday morning and this BNSF train is departing Montana Rail Link's Laurel Yard. However, it is not headed west over the MRL. This train has a BNSF crew on it and it is about to diverge on to BNSF's Laurel Subdivision. This train is actually BNSF's daily Laurel, MT to Denver, CO manifest! It was interesting seeing this train at the other end of the trip! The green and yellow lights indicate the position of switches in the yard. A green light indicates the switch is normal and a yellow light indicates the switch is reversed.

The 844 local works on switching at Sappington, MT. The crew just performed a cool maneuver to get the engines on the end end of these two cars. The engines had been attached to the box car. Rather than go all the way around the two cars on the siding, they use a great alternative. The train was east of the siding here and the engineer quickly accelerated west. The brakeman then uncoupled the engine from the cars. The engines continued to accelerate in to the clear in the siding. The brakeman threw the switch and the cars rolled down the main. The brakeman then set the handbrake to stop the two cars. The engines can now come out on the main and hook up to the covered hopper.
