On one of the chiller days so far this fall season (around 45°F), BNSF's Denver, CO to Laurel, MT manifest cuts through the light raid and mist on the main at Broomfield. The siding, which doesn't run exactly parallel to the main much of the time, is visible to the left.

A northbound BNSF manifest is led by a trio of elephant-style GEs at Broomfield under rainy, overcast skies. The train is approaching the former location of the Brainard Drive grade crossing. The road was moved about a half mile to the northwest to accommodate the extension of the Broomfield siding to the north.

Was kind of cool seeing this particular C44-9W. Why you might ask? This is the lowest numbered C44-9W on BNSF's roster. The "class unit", if you will.
