BNSF's daily Denver, CO to Laurel, MT manifest rolls north on the main at Broomfield. The train is meeting a southbound unit covered hopper train, waiting patiently in the siding. The northbound only has a warrant as far as the north siding switch of Broomfield. There, it will stop and wait for a new warrant from the dispatcher.

A northbound BNSF manifest rolls north on the main at Broomfield, preparing to slow in order to stop at the north end of the siding. The trains track warrant only goes as far as the north switch. The north switch will also have to be aligned for the main.

After holding in the siding at Broomfield for a northbound manifest, this southbound covered hopper train has received a new warrant and is ready to roll for Denver. This is the new south switch for the siding of Broomfield after the north end was extended roughly 2,000 feet to the north. Broomfield previously had two grade crossing within the siding. It now has zero!

A southbound unit covered hopper train (likely a sand train) pulls out of the siding at Broomfield and onto the main at the (relatively) new south switch. Traffic can be seen crossing over the tracks on US-287 in the background.
