For the past few months, the Zephyr has generally been running without a baggage car, and New Year's Day 2021 is no exception. On December 30, however, UP 3000 led a westbound train from Denver to Grand Junction. The power was wyed in Grand Junction and UP 3000, along with an SD70M, was added to the point of an eastbound coal load! The duo, along with the standard DPU compliment in the middle and end of the train, made the trip back east on New Year's Day 2021, see here leaving the siding at Lacy after the eastbound Zephyr ran around the train. If you look close, you can see empty coal hoppers in the siding at Chacra. These hoppers have been sitting in the siding here for at least 6-8 months, and possibly longer!
