A pair of UP SD70Ms, wearing a "wrap" that is covering the flag and "Union Pacific" in favor of "Rocky Mountaineer", lead the first revenue run of the "Rockies to the Red Rocks". The train is climbing west out of Rocky and climbing up Big Ten Loop.

It would appear the conductor on the westbound "Rockies to the Red Rocks" in taking in the views with a few shots from along the long hood as the train climbs up Big Ten Curve.

The first official run of the "Rockies to the Red Rocks" Rocky Mountaineer heads west on UP's Moffat Tunnel Sub. The Rocky Mountaineer worked out an arrangement with Union Pacific to allow the operation of this train on a portion of the former Rio Grande. It will operate west on Sundays and Wednesdays from Denver to Glenwood Springs, CO. It will stay there overnight and run on Mondays and Thursdays west to near Moab, UT on the Cane Creek Sub. Passengers will disembark there and new passengers for the trip east will be picked up. It will then return to Glenwood Springs, CO. On Tuesdays and Fridays, the train will run east from Glenwood Springs, CO to Denver. The two UP SD70Ms being leased for the operation - UP 5107 and UP 5105 - have been give a wrap to cover up the flag and "Union Pacific" on the long hood, replaced with "Rocky Mountaineer". The train here is between Tunnels 2 and 3, just west of Plain around MP 25.

The westbound Rocky Mountaineer exists from Tunnel 3 at the left and enters in to Tunnel 4 at the right. Passengers aboard the train definitely have a fantastic view out the windows overlooking the plains.
