After getting a few shots of the Zephyr going in to Gore Canyon, it was a bit tricky catching up with him again! I could have gotten a shot in Byers Canyon, but it was raining pretty hard there and, after shooting the westbound Zephyr there earlier in the day, I opted to just get ahead and get a shot here, west of Granby. Definitely need to come up a little earlier in the season next year and get a shot of those fall colors!

The eastbound Zephyr slows to a stop on the main at Fraser for its scheduled station stop. The Zephyr often will hold here for 10-15 minutes to give passengers a chance to stretch their legs. However, running a bit behind schedule, the train will keep its stop to just five minutes this evening.

While stop at the station in Fraser, a few passengers briefly pop off the train to stretch their legs and enjoy the cool (and damp) scenery 8,500 feet above sea level.

With its stop at Fraser nearly complete, passengers on the platform make their way back toward their cars to load up and continue the journey. Next stop to the east will be Denver Union Station!

Barely five miles east of Fraser and the scenery has changed from wet to snow! The eastbound Zephyr is about to plunge in to the 6.2-mile-long Moffat Tunnel. While the snow at Winter Park is not deep enough to accommodate skiers just yet, more snow is definitely in the forecast and it shouldn't be long before a new ski season kicks off.
