AMTK 138 and AMTK 75 are pumping out the exhaust, keeping the westbound Zephyr running at track speed through Rainbow cut, about halfway through the siding of Plain. The train had a short delay getting out of Denver, and is trying to make up about 20 minutes.

The head end of the Zephyr runs along some of the narrowest portions of the Tunnel District, hugging the flat irons. The train is just about to enter Tunnel 3, with the tail end just about to clear the huge fill that was actually washed out in epic flooding in 2013.

Passengers on the westbound Zephyr quickly move from light to shadow and back to light repeatedly as the train passes in and out of the tunnel in the Tunnel District. The head end is about to disappear in to Tunnel 5 as the tail end of the train disappears in to Tunnel 4.

Within just the past two minutes, the westbound Zephyr has passed in and out of six tunnels, with the tail end just about to enter in to Tunnel 7. Just ahead and around the bend, the train will enter in to Tunnel 8. At this point, passengers are enjoying a great view of the Colorado plains. However, after existing from Tunnel 8, only the incredible mountain scene of Eldorado Canyon will be visible.
