There is a classic water tower that still stands in Olde Town, as seen here in this shot. Most of Olde Town itself is behind the train. You can see the classic architecture of some of the old buildings. RTD's G-Line commuter (single) track is the other track that the BNSF train is running next to. It finally worked out that I could get the shot today. The train passes alongside the RTD "G-Line" commuter rail (single) track and the Olde Town Arvada station. This is located right off Grandview Avenue. You can see the classic buildings that make up much of the classic district here. The train has about 20 cars in tow that will be dropped off in this track. The Golden Switch will handle switching them out and delivering them to their customers in the coming week. The train is paralleling Farmer's Highline Canal. This canal branches off from Clear Creek not far behind the camera and runs all through Golden, Arvada, and Westminster. The train has a pair of SD40-2s that will serve as the Golden Switch power for the upcoming week. The train is headed for the upper yard at Coors. This yard primarily contains cars for industries other than Coors along the branch that the Golden Switch will switch out in the coming week. This particular SW1000, C997, was originally CB&Q 9333. It later became BN 446 before being sold to National Railway Equipment. Coors bought it from NRE in April 2003.
