BNSF's daily Beer Run, a manifest that runs from Golden to Denver and back, slowly roles through the midst of Olde Town Arvada. There is a classic water tower that still stands in Olde Town, as seen here in this shot. Most of Olde Town itself is behind the train. You can see the classic architecture of some of the old buildings. RTD's G-Line commuter (single) track is the other track that the BNSF train is running next to.

For the last few years, I've thought about getting a shot of BNSF's Beer Run as it made its way through Olde Town Arvada. It finally worked out that I could get the shot today. The train passes alongside the RTD "G-Line" commuter rail (single) track and the Olde Town Arvada station. This is located right off Grandview Avenue. You can see the classic buildings that make up much of the classic district here.

BNSF's westbound Beer Run descends the grade toward the upper yard at Coors in Golden. The train is paralleling Farmer's Highline Canal. This canal branches off from Clear Creek not far behind the camera and runs all through Golden, Arvada, and Westminster. It actually crosses underneath UP's Moffat Tunnel Sub just east of Simms Street!

BNSF's Sunday afternoon Beer Run runs alongside West 44th Avenue in Golden. The train has a pair of SD40-2s that will serve as the Golden Switch power for the upcoming week. The train is headed for the upper yard at Coors. This yard primarily contains cars for industries other than Coors along the branch that the Golden Switch will switch out in the coming week.
