The conductor on a southbound baretable is on the ground to give a "roll by" to the northbound manifest that just knocked down the signal at the south end of Platteville. The southbound baretable is in fact a UP train, even though it is led by a BNSF C44-9W.

A UP conductor from on the southbound baretable gives a roll by to the northbound North Yard, CO to Green River, WY. Many of the cars on the northbound manifest are likely headed for Salt Lake City, and once would have run over the Moffat on the MNYRO. But it is has been several years since the MNYRO ran.

Baretable trains...which are trains that have empty well cars used for hauling (intermodal) containers...are some of the lowest priority trains on any railroad. They do not generate any revenue as the railroad is just relocating the empty cars. A single power-shared BNSF C44-9W is the power on this southbound, getting ready to leave the siding at Platteville.

A BNSF C44-9W has a long string of empty well cars south on the Greeley Sub. A storm front is starting to creep its way over the top of the Colorado Rockies. It is expected to dump around 4" of snow overnight leading in to tomorrow.

A long string of empty well cars is led by a single BNSF C44-9W on the main at Hazeltine. The train is passing by a long string of empty auto racks that, later in the afternoon, will head north as the ARLLDR-07.

At the south switch of Hazeltine, BNSF 4664 and baretable train cross 104th Avenue on the main train. The siding is currently "plugged" with a string of empty auto racks. New cars were brought in and unloaded at UP's auto facility in Denver, named Rolla. After unloading, the cars are placed on the siding so they can head north.

UP's 36th Street Yard is mainly used for organizing cars for a few locals, and for storage. There are several strings of UP units that are currently in long term storage in the yard, include many SD70Ms and C44-9Ws.

The cars on the left side of the shot here in UP's 36th Street Yard are likely set up for locals that run north and east. The tank cars are likely being stored at the moment, and the UP power is definitely being stored.

Amongst the power being stored in UP's 36th Street Yard was this gem of a C44-9W! UP 9754 practically looks as though is rolled out of the paint shop. Unfortunate that it is currently stuck in storage, along with many other C44-9Ws and SD70Ms.

Seeing as how it is currently the "off season" for the Rocky Mountaineer, it makes sense that maintenance activities would be taking place. Indeed, the truck from one of the passengers cars has been removed from the car itself. Hydraulic jacks have been used on either side of the passenger car to keep the car elevated while the truck is removed.
