Once complete, the train will pull to the north end of the yard limits and wait for a recrew. A southbound covered hopper train waits for a recrew in the distance as a northbound tank train also pulls in to the yard. Canadian Pacific had 60 of the units rebuilt by Progress Rail with a new designation as an SD70ACu. One such example is CP 7026, second unit on a northbound CPKC unit tank train. This yard serves as a crew change point for CPKC trains on the Rosenberg Sub. Trains departing north do not stop in Houston, but continue straight through. This siding was built at the start of 2023. A few miles further is the CPKC yard of Kendleton, which serves as a crew change point. If the yard tracks are full (or cannot be blocked), northbounds will tie down here at Wharton. Such is the case today as this northbound waits for a new crew.
