A pair of Canadian Pacific GEs shove part of an intermodal train back in to the ramp at the Kendleton Yard. Once complete, the train will pull to the north end of the yard limits and wait for a recrew. A southbound covered hopper train waits for a recrew in the distance as a northbound tank train also pulls in to the yard.

Once Canadian Pacific retired all of its SD90MACs, the units went on to find life as rebuilds. Canadian Pacific had 60 of the units rebuilt by Progress Rail with a new designation as an SD70ACu. One such example is CP 7026, second unit on a northbound CPKC unit tank train.

A GP38-2 and a rebuilt GP40-3 (of Frisco origins) switch a string of autoracks at CPKC's Kendleton Yard in Kendleton, TX, which is located a little over 40 miles southwest of downtown Houston. This yard serves as a crew change point for CPKC trains on the Rosenberg Sub. Trains departing north do not stop in Houston, but continue straight through.

A northbound CPKC manifest sits in the relatively new siding of Wharton on the north side of Wharton, TX. This siding was built at the start of 2023. A few miles further is the CPKC yard of Kendleton, which serves as a crew change point. If the yard tracks are full (or cannot be blocked), northbounds will tie down here at Wharton. Such is the case today as this northbound waits for a new crew.

Despite the fact that final approval for the merger between Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern just came through a few months ago, the sign at the entrance to the intermodal facility and yard in Kendleton, TX has already been changed to reflect the new CPKC name, logo, and colors!
