The WDVDVF-31 stops at Roydale to pick up some crew to help man the Jordan Spreader. The train, which is normally stored in North Yard, is headed east on the Limon Sub to help free some stranded trains in the snow.

UP 900082 leads the WDEDEF-31 east on the main track at Mesa. The Cheyenne-based rotary plow is headed east on the Limon Sub to help clear the track. Lots of blowing snow after the last two blizzard have buried some of the line in snow drifts!

UP's rotary snow plow (UP 900082) heads east on the main at Sable. The rotary is based in Cheyenne and was brought down the Greeley Sub early in the day into Denver.

A special UP rotary plow train, symbol WDEDEF-31, heads east on the Limon Sub (KP Line) near 40th Street in Denver. The plow is setup in a push-pull mode, with UP 4266 being the unit currently on the back of the train as it heads east.

UP 900082, a rotary plow based out of Cheyenne, makes it way east out of the yard limits of 36th street on the Limon Subdivision. The blade on the plow were slowly turning to avoid freezing up on the journey east.

I don't typically post photos of rail cars, but I thought this car was a reasonable exception! Built over thirty years ago, this former Rock Island boxcar clearly shows its heritage beneath its rusty exterior! The boxcar is now owned by the shortline Kyle Railroad in eastern Colorado / western Kansas. Its original Rock Island number was 300778.

Two units lead the eastbound MDVSI-26 on the Limon Subdivision. The train is moving at restricted speed as its track warrant is joint with another train. The Roydale Local (LDJ03) is working further east near Havana street and it too is occupying the main track. UP 3932 and crew must be prepared to stop in one-half the distance of vision of the track ahead.

UP 3932 east leads the MDVSI-26 east out of 36th street toward the KP. The train is passing over a BNSF track that is now abandoned (at least, this far to the south). There is actually still railhead buried underneath all that dirt!

One of the Roydale Locals (the LDJ03) had a huge train that it was working on switching near Havana Street on the Limon Sub. Half the local (probably 40 cars) were sitting on the main track blocking through traffic while another 30 or so cars were being switched in industries. The lead unit, UP 1526, was SSW 7291 until August 5, 2005. I found that I actually have a shot of SSW 7291 taken on August 1, 2003 in Delta, CO on the Montrose Local!!

I stumbled across this MoPac bay window caboose sitting near the end of a stub track. Appeared to be in descent condition, all things considered. Couldn't really tell how recently it was last used. There was also no indicating if UP owned it or if is was privately owned.

Heavy rains in the Denver area in the last two days have resulted in quite a few pools of water forming, particularly around the tracks. Here, the MLMDVX (Limon to Denver extra) has just passed Quebec street on the Limon Sub heading west toward Denver. 36th street would have the train hold at Steele Street until a place could be cleared for the train.

I love what a polarizer can do for a picture! With the behind the camera, the blue in the sky is very vibrant! Note that this coal empty has second generation power (CEFX 2802, a former UP SD40-2 and HLCX 5969, a former UP/CNW SD60)…and that's it!

CSX 50 is stopped at Ulster street, waiting for 36th street to grant permission for this coal empty to pass through the yard. It was quite a treat to find a train with pure CSX power, even if it was only two units!
