The siding isn't long enough to accommodate the entire train. The remainder of the train is down on the storage track at Stazio. In fact, turning in either direction would reveal office buildings as we are right in the middle of Boulder! This northbound double stack is approaching the south end of the Boulder siding. Prior to the installation of this 7,700 foot siding, it was about 60 miles from Broomfield (9,000 feet) to the next siding longer than 4,000 feet. That siding is North Yard located in Fort Collins. On this Friday afternoon, BNSF's daily Denver to Laurel manifest departs north from the main after meeting the Longmont Turn, approaching the south switch on the siding. Such was the case on this Thursday afternoon as an empty BNSF northbound enters the siding at Broomfield. Consequently, BNSF has rerouted a lot of traffic through Colorado. As a part of the reroutes, several coal empties have run north on the Front Range Sub.
