The fill had to originally be built in order to cross over the Big Dry Creek. Building a fill was apparently less expensive that build a large (curved) bridge. The train just met a northbound coal empty at Broomfield and now has a track warrant from the South Siding Switch Broomfield to Restricted Limits MP 4. The train will likely be meeting a southbound at the siding of Broomfield. However, Broomfield has two grade crossing and, as such, northbounds will usually hold near Church Ranch Lake until the dispatcher tell them to pull in to the clear when the southbound is close enough. Consequently, BNSF has rerouted a lot of traffic through Colorado. As a part of the reroutes, several coal empties have run north on the Front Range Sub.
