While Amtrak makes a 15 minute station stop at Helper (with a surprising large number of passengers waiting to board), the MNYRO-09 (led by UP 3843) cools its jets at Helper while it waits for a new crew.

The original manager of operations of the Rio Grande would be rolling over in his grave if he knew about this one! This coal empty is actually tied down on main one between the crossovers of Ironton and Springville. The crew stopped the train and manually applied the handbrake on the engines and several hoppers before a bus came and picked the up. DS-78 now has only one mainline to work with between Ironton and Springville.
