However, by the time the train had the east signal in sight, it, too, was an approach. The manifest was following an eastbound coal load that was moving quite slowly, keeping the manifest on yellows. The train had an approach (yellow) signal at the west end as it is following a slow moving coal load. If you look down the tracks a bit on the siding, you'll note the house track at Leyden. Once upon a time (when Rocky Flats was still around), the house track almost always had some hopper cars on it that the West Local would switch.
