I am a huge sucker for the Phase III paint scheme, which ruled Amtrak's equipment through the 1980s and 1990s. When first delivered, the P42DCs were painted in a variation of the Phase III scheme. But the units were primarily silver (no black nose) and the trips on the side were located closer to the stop of the unit. If it were up to me, the heritage Phase III scheme applied to AMTK 145 is the scheme I'd apply to all of Amtrak's P42DCs today. In my opinion, this is how Amtrak should look. I'm not a big fan of the Phase V "Shamu" scheme.
