About ten years ago, BNSF moved both the north and south switches of Broomfield. Both are now further north than they previously were, eliminating two grade crossing between switches, including the very busy Nickel Street grade crossing. Now, the siding is basically the same length, but there are no grade crossing blocked when a train is stopped here. This northbound has just received a new warrant, and is pulling across the Brainard grade crossing, which was also relocated at the same time to ensure no grade crossing where between switches on the siding.
