Here, north of the fields, power for the Valmont train is about to back up and attach to the empty hoppers. Just ahead of the lead unit (in the distance) is the end of the line! Even though the Longmont Turn is clearly climbing a hill here, overall the tracks are going down an ruling 1.54% grade the rest of the way into Longmont. It's nice when "the norm" is broken every once in awhile...true, they are still all C44-9W's, but at least all three are on the point! The train is relatively short today, with only 39 cars. This curve is at the south end of the Diagonal, where CO-119 and Foothills Parkway merge.
