The problem is that there isn't yet an "underneath" for the road to follow! You can just barely see the new rail bridge that is being built to the right of the power in this shot. The lighting is great there almost any time of day. So, I decided to try out a shot of a northbound on Main 2 on the east side of I-25. BNSF 5614 is actually a manned helper based at Big Lift. The unit tied on to the train there and will remain on for the trip to Palmer Lake. A train ahead had a near miss with a car at a grade crossing had to put the train in emergency. As a result, this train will be sitting for awhile! Such was the case for me when I saw a headlight on the horizon on Main One. I was heading north on the I-25 Frontage Road (just south of Castle Rock). Upon seeing the headlight, I pulled over to get some shots, expecting a coal train. Much to my surprise, there was only a single ES44AC headed south! Not even sure exactly where it was off to... It has been rumored that one of the results of the project may be the relcation of the southbound main through a portion of the town.
