One of my favorite engines...the SD45-2! Actually, while it still looks like an SD45-2 on the outside, the insides have been completely "revamped" and it is now an SD40-2 under the hood. A 16-cylinder engine and 3,000 horsepower. Still looks pretty sharp in the New Image scheme though.

A good-looking Heritage C44-9W. This is probably my favorite BNSF scheme (save for the Warbonnet!) ... the H2 isn't bad, but it has a bit too much yellow for my taste. I must admit the New Image is growing on my too, but this is the best.

An SD40-2 and a GP38-2...nothing too terribly exciting. However, with the slow down in the economy and an increase in the number of units railroads are placing in storage, who knows how much longer these two units - currently used for switching - will be online!

The older units that are being placed into storage or are flat out being retired are being replaced with these! The GE ES44AC is becoming more and more prevalent on coal trains everywhere. Quite the change from five years ago when SD70MACs ruled all BNSF coal trains.

A southbound coal load pulls card on Main 1 in the area of Acequia and Blakeland. This shot was taken from the overpass at Titan Road...note Longs Peak in the background, with a surprisingly small amount of snow for March!

I love the town of Sedalia! I remember going there many times with my dad to watch trains when I was growing up. Here, a BNSF coal load pulls up the grade and into town on its journey south toward Palmer Lake.

Most shots along the Joint Line south of Castle Rock are on Main 1 on the west side of I-25...for good reason! The lighting is great there almost any time of day. So, I decided to try out a shot of a northbound on Main 2 on the east side of I-25. The lighting isn't nearly as good, but you get a nice view of Pikes Peak!

On the approach to Tomah Road at the south end of the I-25 Frontage Road, these SD70s (an SD70MAC and an SD70ACe) are pulling hard in run eight in order to reach the top of the hill.

A pair of GP15-1s and an SD60M are hanging out near the yard office. The GP15-1s are currently running on transfers from 36th Street to North Yard and back. The SD60M was set to leave on the MDVSI-18 later in the afternoon.
