Alongside Oxford Avenue in Englewood, UP's South Local switches out a lumber yard and a recycling plant. This short track connects in with Main 1 on the Joint Line on the east side of Santa Fe Drive. The rest of the train is actually sitting on Main 1, waiting for the power to return. With the trains currently tied down on Main 3, this means BNSF's Fort Worth dispatcher only has Main 2 available for both northbound and southbound trains through the area.

A northbound BNSF manifest is tied down on Main 3 at Englewood. It would seem that there was no room in the yard at Denver when the train got to this point, so it was tied down. Once room in the yard opens up, no doubt a crew will retrieve the train and bring it the rest of the way in.

The outbound crew for BNSF 6017 have arrived and they are headed over to their train as a southbound Denver-Pueblo manifest rolls by on Main 1. The crew that got off the train told the new crew that BNSF 6017 still has that "new paint smell".

Occasionally, when there is no space in the yard for a crew change, west/southbound coal load will pass through the yard and continue down to the triple track through Englewood and Littleton to await a crew change. Such was the case here as the crew on BNSF 6017 waits for their relief by the Englewood Light Rail station.

A good roster shot of one of BNSF's 25th Anniversary commemorative units sitting on the point of a southbound loaded coal train at Englewood on Main 2. The crew on board has been on board since Sterling, CO and is waiting for a new crew to show up here at Englewood to take the train south to La Junta.

BNSF 6017 is slowing to a stop on Main 2 just north of the signal at Englewood. Here, it will wait for the outbound (relief) crew to show up and take over the train for the trip south to La Junta. The tracks cross Dartmouth Ave and Little Dry Creek, parallel to Santa Fe Drive here.

Five of the derailed tank cars from BNSF's molten sulfur train are tied down just north of Evans Avenue in Englewood. The cars are pretty badly banged up!

UP 844 steams south, its smoke partially obscuring the Denver skyline in the background. The passenger train is headed for Pueblo for the Colorado State Fair. To the left of the train (to the right in the picture) is Main 2, Main 3, and two Light Rail tracks.

At the Evans Street overpass in Englewood, UP 844 is putting on quite a show! The train has a clear signal down Main 1 through the CTC as well as a warrant to continue south on Main 1 to Palmer Lake.

BNSF's Denver to Kansas City manifest (HDENKCK-07) heads south on Main One on the triple track in Englewood. Meanwhile, several people wait for the arrival of their Light Rail train. Sure wish that kids mom cared enough to keep her kid on the platform!

About 10 miles remain on its 10,000 mile journey! The hydrotreater on board came from Italy and is destined for the Suncor oil refinery in Commerce City. This was the last I saw of this train as it was getting late in the day.
