Here, the CTC triple track ends and it is Main 1 (now CTC and under the control of BNSF) all the way to Palmer Lake. While manifest generally make better speeds than coal loads on the Joint Line, this manifest will be encountering yellow signals soon enough as it trails a coal load just a few miles ahead. But when you do stop and check it out, it is well worth it! A southbound BNSF coal train is pulling hard on Main 1 (former DRGW main, now UP main), running south on the climb to Palmer Lake along the Rockies. While it was disappointing that the heritage unit was on the point, it was nice that it was facing southbound. This picture was taken from the Titan Road overpass on the south side of Littleton. If you look closely, you can see two deer bouncing around on the far right side of the picture. One of these deer was just a jump away from never seeing another sunrise! While southbounds may find themselves on any of the three tracks leading up to Littleton, south of Littleton they nearly always find themselves on Main 1.
